<p>This year, the number of parents participating in Leander ISD Educational Excellence Foundation’s (LEEF) Teacher Recognition Campaign has more than  doubled! By making a donation to LEEF in their teacher’s name, LISD teachers will be presented with a personalized certificate by their principal during Teacher Appreciation Week, along with a goody bag. <h1><span style="font-size: 13px; font-weight: normal;">We are committed to protecting our community, our students, and our environment by planning and building a secondary access road from Vandegrift HS and Four Points MS campus to the intersection of River Place Blvd. and Four Points Dr.  This access road would divert some of the 6000 trips a day from FM 2222 and McNeil Drive and provide essential emergency access and a secondary evacuation route.</span></h1>
<p>They have 1300 signatures of the 5000 they are trying to obtain to help justify the need for the added road.  The web site <a href="http://www.4pointstraffic.com" target="_blank">www.4pointstraffic.com</a> allows you to sign the petition and it helps to email your support for the road.  If you are in support of the added road, please sign and share with your friends and neighbors.  The added road will not solve the 2222 traffic issues, it will help to provide an alternative route into/out of the schools in the event of an emergency like the fires we had two years ago.</p>

<p>The last day residents may register to vote in the upcoming election is Thursday, April 11, 2013.</p>
<p>Early voting for the LISD board election begins on Monday, April 29, and runs through Tuesday, May 7. Leander ISD voters, <strong>regardless of county of residence</strong>, may vote at any of the many Williamson County and Travis County Early Voting Polling Places or Election Day Vote Centers listed on the <a href="http://www.williamson-county.org/CountyDepartments/Elections/tabid/450/language/en-US/Default.aspx" target="_blank">Williamson County Elections website</a>.  It is <strong>important for Leander ISD Travis County voters to note</strong> that the LISD ballot will only be available at the Travis County locations specifically listed on the above referenced website; other Travis County locations will not contain the Leander ISD ballot.</p>
<p><strong>Election Day voting will be held from 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2013</strong>.</p>

About the Family</p>
<p>Russell Cloyde Crawford IV (Rusty) of Austin passed away on January 22, 2013 at the age of 42. He is survived by his wife Cheryl and daughter Lauren. He is also survived by his father Russell C. Crawford and Carol Crawford of Round Rock and mother Mary Ann Reddin of Memphis, Tennessee; sister Rebecca Derr and husband Mike of Akron, OH; brother Jeremy Forbis and wife Abby of Fayetteville, AR; and brother Carl and wife Amanda of Austin, TX.</p>
<p>Russell was born June 25, 1970 in Memphis and moved to Round Rock in l986. He was a 1988 graduate of Round Rock High School and following graduation enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Russell served in Desert Storm, Gulf War I and served for 4 years. He was very proud of his being a Marine, in service to his country.<br />
Russell was self-employed and owned Crawford’s Tree Service in Steiner Ranch, TX. He particularly enjoyed the customer service end of the business and was highly rated in all the bureaus in the industry.He was loved by his customers and employees alike.</p>
<p>Russell was a talented artist and his work won awards and was on display in the State Capital. He was especially interested in fantasy drawings and depictions of military actions and at a young age was approached by a major publisher attempting to secure his artistic services.<br />
His greatest loves were his wife, Cheryl and daughter Lauren. He especially enjoyed his time at home and watching his daughter share in his creativity. All who knew him loved his great sense of humor and his big heart.</p>
<p>The circumstances of Russell’s passing left his wife and 5<sup>th</sup> grade daughter with no life insurance and large medical bills.  His wife has working nights to provide health insurance for their daughter, and is now struggling to cover medical and household bills.<br />

Living to Give will take place March 17, 2013 from 11am to 5pm in the Galaxy Moviehouse &amp; Eatery parking lot located at 8300 N. Farm to Market 620, Austin, TX 78726. The event is free to the public and will feature a classic car show, local vendors, food, and live music.<br />
Car Show Details<br />
Vehicles can be registered in the following categories:</p>
<p>Corvettes<br />
Street Rods<br />
Muscle<br />
Cruisers<br />
Exotics<br />
Foreign</p>
<p>Vehicle check-in will be from 9am-1pm on the day of the event.</p>
<p>Each car will recieve a container to collect donations during the show.  To vote for a car, add any amount of money to the car&#8217;s coresponding container.  Winners will be decided by calculating which car has raised the most money.  100% of the voting proceedes will go directly to the Crawford family.</p>
<p>Certain vehicles at this show may also be for sale.  For any cars sold during the event, 20% of the profit will be donated tot he Crawford family.<br />

<p>The Grandview Hills Elementary PTA is busy planning our fifth annual <strong>Spring Fling</strong> on <strong>Friday, April 19<sup>th</sup></strong> from 5-7:30 pm to celebrate the end of another wonderful school year!  The PTA works all year to support the teachers, students, and school through a number of ways.  For example, the PTA donates money to the school library, supplements the cost of field trips, provides IB related family programs, provides many hours of volunteer help, and coordinates the Soaring Eagles Running Club, Chess Club, Robotics, Lego League, Destination Imagination, Reflections, and the Watch DOGS program.  All of these programs enrich the lives of our children and their educational experience.</p>
<p>We are again offering an opportunity for businesses to support our Spring Fling, and in turn be promoted as a generous supporter of our school and PTA.</p>

<p>Dress for Success &#8211; Austin (DFSA) is a non-profit organization that provides interview suits, confidence boosts and career development to low-income women seeking employment who are referred by other non-profits, and government agencies.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Laura Welch Bush Elementary PTA is hosting it&#8217;s annual Fall Festival on Friday October 21 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.  This is a FREE annual event where there will be fun, crafts, games, a petting zoo, a special live concert and much, much more!!  We are in desperate need as we have lost our biggest sponsors this year. The PTA is offering small sponsorship opportunities to local area businesses.   For a donation of $50 to $100 you can sponsor an activity at the event and market your business to a community of over 900 students. Contact Susan O&#8217;Keefe at 786-5063 to get involved today!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<h1><strong>NEWSFLASH:  Concert in the Park at Steiner Ranch is coming up on Saturday, August 20th!  The Four Points Chamber of Commerce is the opening act!</strong></h1>
<p><strong> </strong><strong><span style="color: green;">We&#8217;ll be there &#8220;With Or Without You&#8221; &#8211; a great 80&#8242;s song by U2 that we&#8217;ll likely hear at the Concert in the Park&#8230;</span></strong></p>
<p><strong>and also an invitation</strong> to you to sponsor the Four Points Chamber in sharing your business at the FPC Booth with thousands of people at this event.  We&#8217;ll be there in full force and we want your business image to be &#8220;with&#8221; us there as well.</p>
<p><strong><span style="color: purple;">With over 3,000 visitors per year, the Steiner Ranch Concert in the Park is a premiere annual event for Austin.</span></strong></p>
<p>If you have a business or do business in the Four Points/ Steiner Ranch area, this is a rare (annual) opportunity to mingle with a large segment of your prospect or networking base.  On <strong>Saturday, August 20th, from 6 pm until 10pm</strong>, the 4th annual, Steiner Ranch Concert in the Park will fill the grounds of Towne Square, beating the heat with some great <strong>live music by RED ALERT, local sponsor and vendor booths, food provided by local Four Points Restaurants, jumpy houses, face painting, a rock climbing wall, water slide, and games.</strong> It’s become a fantastic thing to do with Steiner friends and neighbors.</p>
<p><strong><span style="color: red;">The Four Points Chamber of Commerce has secured a large booth&#8230;</span></strong></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">for advocating for our organization and our members at this event.  <strong>It will be no ordinary booth!</strong> Concert in the Park is a fun, community event and our booth will be consistent with that theme.  <strong>Our goals?</strong> First, to attract visitors to our booth.  We’re hosting a <strong>drawing for a bran-new IPAD</strong>, having a “Wheel of Fortune”-like game wheel for kids and their parents to spin and win valuable prizes AND having FREE “take-away” bags full of our member’s ads, brochures, business cards and snacks.  Secondly, <strong>every person that visits us is going to have some fun</strong>…talking with our volunteers (FPC Members), playing games and gaining an awareness of who we are and who our members are.  <strong>Last goal?</strong> <strong>Collect information…for YOU</strong>.  Everyone who registers for the IPAD drawing will be another contact we’ll share with our Member Platinum and Gold sponsors of this booth after the event.</span></p>
